Stock Profile

Valmont Industries, Inc. engages in the production of fabricated metal products; metal and concrete pole, and tower structures; mechanized irrigation systems; and provision of metal coating services. It operates in five segments: Engineered Support Structures (ESS), Utility Support Structures (USS), Coatings, Irrigation, and Tubing. The ESS segment manufactures engineered metal structures and components, such as poles and towers for the lighting and traffic, utility, and wireless communication industries, and for other specialty applications. The lighting and traffic product line includes steel and aluminum poles and structures to which lighting and traffic control fixtures are attached for a range of outdoor lighting applications, such as streets, highways, parking lots, sports stadiums, and commercial and residential developments. The USS segment produces steel and concrete pole structures product lines, which are used for electrical transmission, substation, and distribution applications, as well as hybrid structures, which are structures with a concrete base section and steel upper sections. It also manufactures tapered steel and pre-stressed concrete poles for high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and electrical distribution. The Coatings segment provides galvanizing, anodizing, and painting services. The Irrigation segment engages in the manufacture and distribution of agricultural irrigation equipment and related parts and services. Its equipment is used to water crops and deliver chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The Tubing segment consists of the manufacture of tubular products, which are used in specialized agricultural, automotive, and industrial applications, including grain augers and chutes, engine exhausts, and pneumatic tubing. The company was founded by Robert B. Daugherty in 1946 under the name Valley Manufacturing. It changed its name to Valmont Industries, Inc. in 1967. Valmont Industries is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska.
