Tyco International, Ltd., through its subsidiaries, operates as a diversified manufacturing and service company. It has four segments: Fire and Security, Electronics, Healthcare, and Engineered Products and Services. The Fire and Security segment designs, manufactures, installs, monitors, and services electronic security systems, fire detection systems and suppression systems, and fire extinguishers and related products, as well as integrated systems for surveillance and control of public transportation systems, bridges, tunnels, and other public works. The Electronics segment manufactures electrical and electronic connector systems, fiber optic components, and wireless devices, including private radio systems and radar sensors. It also provides heat shrink products, circuit protection devices, magnetic devices, wire and cables, relays, sensors, touch screens, identification and labeling products, power systems and components, printed circuit boards and assemblies, electronic modules, application tooling, switches, and battery assemblies. The Healthcare segment provides medical devices and supplies, imaging agents, pharmaceuticals, and adult incontinence and infant care products to hospitals, surgical centers, alternate care facilities, and homes. The Engineered Products and Services segment offers industrial valves and controls, as well as steel tubular goods. It also provides environmental and other industrial consulting services. The company serves financial institutions; industrial and commercial businesses; federal, state, and local governments; defense installations; and health care and educational facilities, as well as original equipment manufacturers and subcontractors, utilities, value-added resellers, and others through direct sales and distributors worldwide. Tyco International was founded in 1960 and is based in Pembroke, Bermuda.
