The Mosaic Company engages in the production, blending, and distribution of crop nutrient and animal feed products worldwide. It operates through four segments: Phosphates, Potash, Offshore, and Nitrogen. The Phosphate segment owns and operates mines and concentrates plants in Florida that produce phosphate fertilizer and feed phosphate, and concentrates plants in Louisiana that produce phosphate fertilizer. The Potash segment mines, processes, and distributes potash in Canada and the United States. The potash products are marketed to crop nutrient manufacturers, distributors, and retailers; and to customers for industrial use. These products are used in the manufacture of mixed crop nutrients and in animal feed ingredients, as well as for icemelter and water softener regenerant. The Offshore segment includes fertilizer blending and bagging facilities, port terminals, and warehouses in various countries. In addition, the company has a one-third ownership in Fertifos S.A, which operates phosphate and nitrogen processing plants in Brazil; and 35% equity ownership in a diammonium phosphate granulation plant in Yunnan Province in China. The Nitrogen segment owns 50% ownership interest in Saskferco, Inc., which produces anhydrous ammonia, granular urea, feed grade urea, and urea ammonium nitrate solution for shipment to nitrogen fertilizer customers. This segment also distributes nitrogen products, which are marketed for Saskferco, as well as purchased from other unrelated third parties. The company is based in Plymouth, Minnesota.
