Wabash National Corporation engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of truck trailers and intermodal equipment primarily in the United States. It operates in two segments: Manufacturing, and Retail and Distribution. Manufacturing segment develops proprietary products, such as trailers; domestic containers, which consist of stackable containers that are carried either on flat cars or stacked two-high on special ‘Double-Stack' railcars; smooth aluminum trailers; refrigerated trailers, which use proprietary SolarGuard technology that reduces fuel consumption and operating hours; RoadRailer equipment, a patented bimodal technology, consisting of truck trailer and detachable rail bogie; and other transportation equipment, which includes container chassis and converter dollies. Retail and Distribution segment sells new and used trailers, as well as provides parts and maintenance services. Its products comprise tank trailers, dump trailers, and platform trailers; replacement parts and accessories, and maintenance service for its own and other company trailers, and related equipment; and used transportation equipment. The company sells its products through independent dealers and through its retail branch network principally under Wabash, FreightPro, Articlite, and RoadRailer trademarks. Wabash National was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Lafayette, Indiana.
