The Music Go Round stores buy, sell, and consign used musical instruments, speakers, amplifiers, music-related electronics, and related accessories. The Plato's Closet stores buy and sell clothing and accessories for teens and young adults. As of June 25, 2005, the company operated 797 franchise and retail stores, including 404 Play It Again Sports, 210 Once Upon A Child, 142 Plato's Closet, and 41 Music Go Round stores. The company, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Winmark Capital Corporation, engages in the middle-market equipment leasing business, which covers high-technology equipment, such as computers, telecommunications equipment, point-of-sale systems, and other business-essential equipment. In addition, the company, through its other subsidiary, Winmark Business Solutions, Inc., engages in the small-ticket leasing business, which covers business essential assets, including computers, telecommunications equipment, car wash equipment, production equipment, and other equipment. The company markets its leasing services directly to end-users and indirectly through business alliances, as well as through vendors of equipment, software, value-added services, and consulting services. Winmark was incorporated in 1988 and is headquartered in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
