VPI was incorporated as ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 1994 and changed its name to Valeant Pharmaceuticals International in 2003. The company is headquartered in Costa Mesa, California. Valeant Pharmaceuticals International acquired Xcel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. on March 2005.
