Its emission control systems include mufflers and resonators, which provide noise elimination and acoustic tuning; catalytic converters, which convert harmful gaseous emission, such as carbon monoxide; exhaust manifolds components that collect gases from individual cylinders of a vehicle's engine and direct them into a single exhaust pipe; pipes, to connect various parts of both the hot and cold ends of an exhaust system; hangers and isolators, for system installation and noise elimination; and diesel particulate filters, which eliminate particulate matter emitted from diesel engines. Tenneco's ride control systems include shock absorbers, struts, vibration control components, kinetic roll controls, and advanced suspension systems. The company also offers other ride control products, such as load assist products, springs, steering stabilizers, adjustable suspension systems, suspension kits, and modular assemblies. Its aftermarket customers include full-line and specialty warehouse distributors, retailers, jobbers, installer chains, and car dealers. The company was founded in 1987. It was formerly known as Tenneco Automotive, Inc. and changed its name to Tenneco, Inc. in October 2005. Tenneco is headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois.
