It operates in three segments: Crop Protection, Seeds, and Plant Science. The Crop Protection segment offers herbicides for corn, cereals, and rice; fungicides for cereals, fruits, grapes, rice, and vegetables; insecticides for fruits, vegetables, and cotton; and professional products, such as seed treatments, products for public health, and products for turf and ornamentals. The Seeds segment develops, produces, and markets various seeds and plants, including corn, soybeans, oilseeds, and sugar beet; and horticultural crops, such as flowers and vegetables. The Plant Science segment manufactures and sells QUANTUM Phytase, a microbial produced animal feed supplement in Mexico and Brazil. The company serves seed treatment, turf and ornamentals, professional pest management, vector control, and public health markets. Syngenta operates in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, China, and India. It sells its products through independent distributors and dealers. Syngenta has research collaboration with Hubei Biopesticide Engineering Research Center of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences to discover natural chemicals that could be used as starting points for the development of crop protection agents; and a strategic alliance with COMPO to develop and market a range of plant protection and pest control products for the consumer lawn and garden market in Europe, excluding Switzerland. Syngenta is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland.
