It operates through five segments: Inpatient Service, Rehabilitation Therapy Service, Medical Staffing Service, Home Health Service, and Laboratory and Radiology Service. Inpatient Service segment, through SunBridge Healthcare Corporation and other subsidiaries, provides inpatient skilled nursing and custodial services, as well as rehabilitative, restorative, and transitional medical services. Its specialty acute rehabilitation hospitals offer inpatient and outpatient services for people with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, arthritis, and other disabling conditions, and assisted living facilities services for the elderly. Rehabilitation Therapy Service segment provides rehabilitation therapy services, including speech pathology, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Medical Staffing Service segment provides temporary medical staffing. Its services include licensed therapists skilled in the areas of physical, occupational, and speech therapies; as well as nurses; pharmacists, pharmacist technicians, and medical imaging technicians; and related medical personnel. Home Health Service segment provides skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapy, and home infusion services to adult and pediatric patients in California and Ohio. Laboratory and Radiology Service segment provides mobile radiology services to nursing facilities in Arizona, Colorado, and Massachusetts, and medical laboratory services to nursing facilities in Massachusetts. As of March 1, 2005, the company operated 104 long-term care facilities, including 87 skilled nursing facilities and 8 assisted living facilities, 6 mental health facilities, and 3 specialty acute care hospitals in 13 states with 10,659 licensed beds; and provided rehabilitation therapy services to 403 facilities in 40 states. Sun Healthcare Group was founded in 1989 and is based in Irvine, California.
