The Licensing segment develops and licenses audio, voice, and surround sound technology solutions to original equipment manufacturers, software providers, and semiconductor companies. It licenses audio enhancement technologies; voice processing technologies, which reduce noise over wireless communication devices; and a surround sound technology, Circle Surround, which is an encoding and decoding format. Circle Surround encoding enables the distribution of up to 6.1 channels of discrete audio over existing two-channel carriers, such as broadcast television, FM radio, CDs, and VHS tapes. The Licensing segment also licenses and markets hardware and software products for the Internet and professional audio markets. The Semiconductors segment develops, designs, and markets standard and custom analog ICs, digital signal processors, and mixed signal integrated circuits primarily to original equipment manufacturers and original design manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region. The company also operates in Hong Kong, Japan, and Europe, as well as North, Central, and South America. SRS Labs has strategic alliance with Coming Home Studios LLC to produce and sell concert digital versatile disks, which include the company's Circle Surround technology. The company was formed in 1993 and is headquartered in Santa Ana, California.
