The company's deep-discount food and drug stores offer a full-service pharmacy, general merchandise products, and basic food offerings. As of September 10, 2005, the company operated 54 retail supermarkets and 19 deep-discount food and drug stores. Spartan Stores was formed in 1917 and is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
