It offers medical transportation services, which consist primarily of emergency and nonemergency medical transportation services to governmental entities, hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities and organizations. The company also provides private fire protection and related services, including fire suppression, fire prevention, and first responder medical care on a subscription-fee basis to residential and commercial property owners and under long-term contracts with fire districts, industrial sites, and airports. In addition, the company provides nonemergency medical transportation services to hospitals, nursing homes, and specialized healthcare facilities on a noncontractual basis. The company was founded by Louis A. Witzeman in 1948. Rural/Metro Corporation is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.
