| Res-Care, Inc. provides residential, therapeutic, job training, and educational support services to people with special needs. It operates in three segments: Disabilities Services, Youth Services, and Training Services. The Disabilities Services segment provides periodic in-home services, group homes, supported living, residential facilities, and vocational skills training and day programs. The Youth Services segment offers educational, behavioral, and vocational training, including individual, group, and family counseling and training in social and independent living skills to at-risk and troubled youths. The Training Services segment operates programs for disadvantaged youths through the federal Job Corps program administered by the United States Department of Labor, which provides educational and vocational skills training, health care, employment counseling, and other support. The company offered its services to approximately 34,000 people in 33 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Canada, as of February 25, 2005. Res-Care was founded by Jim Fornear in 1974 and is based in Louisville, Kentucky. |
