The company was founded in 1990. It was formerly known as EMCO Motor Holdings, Inc. and changed its name to United Auto Group, Inc. and then to Penske Automotive Group, Inc. in July 2007. Penske Automotive Group, Inc. is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
