Nuance Communications markets and distributes its products indirectly through a network of resellers, comprising system integrators, independent software vendors, value-added resellers, hardware vendors, telecommunications carriers, and distributors; and directly to businesses and consumers through direct sales force and e-commerce Web site. It serves healthcare, telecommunications, financial services, legal, and government markets. The company was founded in 1992 as Visioneer, Inc. It changed its name to ScanSoft, Inc. in 1999 and to Nuance Communications, Inc. in October 2005. Nuance Communications is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.
