Inco Limited operates as a global mining and metals company that primarily produces nickel and value-added specialty nickel products. Its specialty nickel products include powders, foams, flakes, oxides, and nickel-coated graphite. The company also produces copper, precious metals, and cobalt. Inco offers copper for industrial users in North America, as well as provides other primary metals and related products, such as platinum-group metals, gold, silver, sulfuric acid, liquid sulfur dioxide, and selenium and tellurium. Inco's operations consist of two segments, Finished Products and Intermediates. The Finished Products segment includes the mining and processing operations in Ontario and Manitoba in Canada, the refining operations in the United Kingdom, and interests in the refining operations in Japan and other Asian countries. The intermediates segment includes the mining and processing operations of Inco's approximately 61% owned Indonesian subsidiary, PT Inco, where nickel-in-matte, an intermediate product, is produced and sold primarily into the Japanese market. In addition, it holds mineral claims and licenses for development projects, which include Voisey's Bay nickel-copper-cobalt project under development in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador; and Goro nickel-cobalt project in the French overseas territorial community of New Caledonia. Inco's customers primarily comprise stainless steel manufacturing, plating, aerospace, oil and gas, and the automotive industries. The company was founded in 1902. It was formerly known as International Nickel Company of Canada Limited and changed its name to Inco Limited in 1975. Inco is based in Toronto, Canada.
