Marshall Edwards, Inc. engages in the development and commercialization of drugs for the treatment of cancer. The company engages in the clinical development of a drug called Phenoxodiol for early stage prostate cancer, late stage hormone refractory prostate cancer, early stage cervical and vaginal cancer, chemo resistant and chemo refractory ovarian cancer, and renal cancer. Phenoxodiol induces cancer cell death through inhibition of anti apoptotic proteins, including XIAP and FLIPshort. It would increase the potency of signal transduction inhibitors by targeting multiple signaling pathways vital to the survival of most human cancer cells. Phenoxodiol is in the phase II trials in the U.S. and Australia. The company was incorporated in 2000 and is based in North Ryde, Australia.
