It operates through four segments: Defense, Commercial Imaging and Visualization (CIV), Advanced Solutions (Advanced Solutions), and Modular Products and Services (MPS). The Defense segment products are embedded in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance gathering systems, including radar and signals intelligence, as well as applications, such as smart weapons, data exploitation, and sonar. The CIV segment offers magnetic resonance imaging, digital X-ray, positron emission tomography, computed tomography, and ultrasound devices. The Advanced Solutions segment supplies computers to original equipment manufactures that produce semiconductor wafer inspection, reticle inspection, mask writing, and telecommunications applications. The MPS segment supplies application-specific computers for telecommunications, industrial, medical, and defense applications. The company also offers a family of hardware products designed to meet the requirements in signal and image processing applications, including PowerStream product line, RACE++ VME product line, and industrial class systems. Its software products include base software development environment, optional software development products, runtime environment, Amira, Open Inventor, ExamineRT, and VisageRT. Mercury Computer Systems was formed in 1981 and is headquartered in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The company acquired Echotek Corporation in August 2005.
