These products are used in various applications, including fixed satellite services, direct-to-home broadcasting, mobile satellite services, broadband data distribution, wireless telephony, digital radio, digital mobile broadcasting, military communications, weather monitoring, and air traffic management. This segment also offers spot-beam satellites for data networking applications. The Satellite Services segment owns and operates a fleet of telecommunications satellites. It leases transponder capacity to commercial and governmental customers for video distribution and broadcasting, high-speed data distribution, Internet access, and communications, as well as provides managed network services to customers using a hybrid satellite and ground-based system. This segment also offers professional services, including spacecraft operational services, satellite construction oversight services, network architecture design, regulatory management, and fleet operating services to other satellite operators. In addition, the company offers X-band services to the U.S. Department of State, the Spanish Ministry of Defense, and the Danish armed forces. Loral operates primarily in the United States, Asia, Europe, and Mexico. The company was incorporated in 1996 and is based in New York, New York.
