The company manufactures approximately 30,000 aerospace components for integration into various civilian and military aircraft platforms. LMI Aerospace also produces sheet metal products for the commercial sheet metal industry, and components and assemblies for laser equipment used by semiconductor and medical equipment manufacturers in the technology industry. In addition, the company provides services related to the design, production, and finishing of its components. It markets its products through direct sales force and independent representatives. The company was founded by Joseph Leonard Sr. in 1948 under the name Leonard's Metal Forming Company. It subsequently changed its name to LMI Aerospace, Inc. in 1998. LMI Aerospace is headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri.
