The company's products include VDSLx and residential gateways for distributing advanced services in the home. These products consist of Fx and FxS families of VDSLx Physical Layer (PHY) products targeted at the broadband over copper market, and provide transmission rates up to 100 Mbps downstream and upstream; SmartLeap and CleverConnect families of VDSLx PHY products targeted at the broadband over copper market, and provide transmission rates up to 60 Mbps downstream and 30 Mbps upstream; Eagle family of ADSL2+ PHY products primarily targeted at ADSL2+ USB modems, which provide a solution for broadband connectivity; Fusiv family of residential gateway products primarily targeted at customer premises equipment for fiber extension, VDSLx, and ADSL2+ markets; and DoraVison evaluation kit that comprises an end-to-end system model, synthesizable RTL code, core level testbench, and FPGA evaluation board, designed for digital TV applications. Ikanos Communications' customers include original destination manufacturers (ODMs), contract manufacturers (CMs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who in turn sell its semiconductors to carriers, as well as to third-party sales representations, who in turn sell to ODMs, CMs and OEMs in Asia, Europe, and North America. The company was founded in 1999. It was formerly known as Velocity Communications and changed its name to Ikanos Communications in 2000. Further, the company changed its name to Ikanos Communications, Inc. in 2005. Ikanos Communications is headquartered in Fremont, California.
