As part of its intermodal services, it negotiates rail and drayage rates, electronically tracks shipments in transit, consolidates billing, and handles claims for freight loss or damage on behalf of its customers. The company's truck brokerage operations provide customers with specialized programs, including the Dedicated Trucking program, where certain carriers informally move freight for Hub Group's customers on a continuous basis. It also arranges for the transportation of freight by truck, providing customers another option for their transportation needs. Hub Group's logistics services include transportation management services, including load consolidation, mode optimization, and carrier management. The company's distribution services comprise specialized services, such as installation of point of purchase displays. Hub Group provides its services to customers in a variety of industries, including consumer products, retail, paper products, manufactured products, automotive parts, and electronic equipment. As of February 15, 2005, the company operated through a network of approximately 30 offices throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Hub Group was founded in 1971 by Phillip C. Yeager and is headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois.
