It offers etched and stamped component-level parts, such as flexures and baseplates that are used in connection with or related to suspension assemblies. The company also develops InSpectra Tissue Spectrometer, a medical device that uses an optical technology to measure local oxygen saturation of hemoglobin in tissue. Hutchinson sells its products to disk drive manufacturers and their suppliers, including recording head manufacturers worldwide. Hutchinson Technology was co-founded by Jeffrey W. Green and Jon Geiss in 1965 as Hutchinson Industrial Corporation. It changed its name to Hutchinson Technology Incorporated in 1982. The company is headquartered in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
