It distributes recorded music, as well as DVDs, VCDs, and ancillary equipment, such as personal stereo headphones through music store chains in Taiwan. As of June 15, 2005, the company operated 45 stores. It provides broadband Internet access services to consumer and corporate customers through various technologies and products, including ADSL, cable modems, leased-line, and virtual private network. The company also offers various value-added services, including free electronic mail, bulletin boards, and photo albums. As of March 31, 2005, it had approximately 93,775 subscribers. GigaMedia also engages in the development and licensing of entertainment software for Internet-based entertainment markets worldwide. It offers Online Entertainment Management software that enables to offer online entertainment, monitor end-user behavior, and to monetize the traffic and patronage generated by the end users; and Online Entertainment Modules, which are customizable entertainment modules that feature a 3-D environment, selectable background music, and local language interface. In addition, the company provides application services and consulting services comprising infrastructure design services and management tools for Internet property; creation and branding of its client's Internet property; transaction processing design services; and customer support services. GigaMedia was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan.
