As of December 31, 2004, FSQC operated 148 communities containing 16,573 living units, including 96 independent and assisted living communities containing 11,724 living units, and 52 nursing homes containing 4,849 living units. It operates in Maryland, Georgia, California, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. The company was formed in 2000 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Senior Housing Properties Trust (Senior Housing) and completed its spin-off from Senior Housing in December 2001. Five Star Quality Care, Inc. is headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts.
