It develops three proprietary sensor technologies: SOCRATES, UNICORN and TIICM. SOCRATES (Sensor for Optically Characterizing Ring-eddy Atmospheric Turbulence Emanating Sound) is designed to detect clear air turbulence, microbursts, and aircraft generated vortices, which result in hazardous conditions to safe air travel. It's UNICORN (Universal Collision Obviation and Reduced Near-Miss) technology is based upon an arrangement of radar, which gives both visual and audible warning indication of approaching aircraft to pilots. TIICM (Tactical Integrated Illuminating Countermeasure) is a solution to the threat of ground fired and hand held missile being fired on aircraft by terrorists. Flight Safety Technologies has a strategic alliance with Lockheed Martin Corporation for the development and marketing of SOCRATES-based products. The company was founded in 1997 and is based in Mystic, Connecticut.
