The bank also offers travelers' checks, safe deposit boxes, and Master Card and Visa merchant deposit services, as well as short-term trade finance facilities to U.S. importers and manufacturers doing business in the Asia Pacific region. It also invests in U.S. treasury securities, U.S. government agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, and corporate securities. As of June 30, 2005, the bank operated 45 offices in Los Angeles, Orange, San Francisco, Alameda, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties, as well as a representative office in Beijing, China. The company, through its other subsidiary, East West Insurance Services, Inc., provides business and consumer insurance services. East West Bancorp was founded in 1998 and is based in San Marino, California.
