The bank engages in generating deposits and originating loans. Its deposit products include demand, checking, and savings deposits. The bank's loan portfolio comprises commercial, real estate, personal, home improvement, automobile, and other installment and term loans. Bank of the Commonwealth also offers other related services, such as title insurance services, online banking, trust, travelers' checks, safe deposit, lock box, customer note payment, collections, notary public, escrow, drive-in facility, and other customary banking services. The bank primarily invests in the obligations of the U.S. treasury and agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, and state and municipal securities. As of September 30, 2005, it operated three branches in Norfolk, four branches in Virginia Beach, two branches in Chesapeake, and one branch in Portsmouth. The bank also operated one mortgage branch office in Norfolk, one mortgage branch office in Gloucester, and one mortgage branch office in Richmond, Virginia.
