The company operates through four segments: Telecommunications Services; Rainbow; Madison Square Garden; and Rainbow DBS. The Telecommunications Services segment includes cable television business, including basic cable, interactive digital cable, high-speed data, voice over Internet protocol, residential telephone services operations, and the operations of the commercial telephone and high-speed data services. The Rainbow segment consists principally of interests in national and regional cable television programming networks. The Madison Square Garden segment owns and operates professional sports teams, regional cable television networks, and an entertainment business. The Rainbow DBS segment consists of direct broadcast satellite service and the 21 high definition channels. Cablevision Systems was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Bethpage, New York.
