The company has two segments, VED and Satcom Equipment. The VED segment develops, manufactures, and distributes high power/high frequency microwave and RF signal components. Its products include linear beam, cavity, power grid, crossed field, and magnetron devices. These products are used in the communication, radar, electronic countermeasures, industrial, medical, and scientific markets. This segment distributes its products through direct sales force, independent sales representatives, and distributors. The Satcom Equipment segment manufactures and supplies high power amplifiers and networks for satellite communication uplink and industrial applications. It also provides spares, service, and other post sales support. This segment distributes its products through direct sales force and independent sales representatives. The company was founded in 1948. It was formerly known as CPI Acquisition Corp. and changed its name to CPI Holdco, Inc. in 2004. Further, the company changed its name to CPI International, Inc. in January 2006. CPI International is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
