The company's ProxyAV Web antivirus appliances include the ProxyAV 400 Series and the ProxyAV 2000 Series. The ProxyAV enables organizations to scan for viruses, worms, and trojans entering through Web-based backdoors that include personal Web email accounts where viruses and worms propagate, Web spam or email spam which unknowingly activates trojan downloads, and browser-based file downloads that bypass existing virus scanning defenses. The company also offers Spyware Interceptor, an anti-spyware appliance for networks with 1000 users or less; The Blue Coat Reporter, a log processing and reporting product that generates out-of-the-box reports tailored for the ProxySG appliance; The Blue Coat Director that delivers change management for ProxySG appliances; and Blue Coat WinProxy SecureSuite, an Internet sharing software package. It offers its products through resellers, distributors, and system integrators. The company was incorporated in 1996 as CacheFlow, Inc. and changed its name to Blue Coat Systems, Inc. in 2002. Blue Coat Systems is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.
