It invests these funds in loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied and single-family residences. The bank provides real estate loans, consisting of construction, single-family rental property, and commercial real estate loans; and consumer loans, including automobile loans, home equity lines of credit, and commercial lines of credit. It also invests in the U.S. government and agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, and equity investments in mutual funds. In addition, the bank, through its subsidiary, sells vendor's single interest insurance on automobile loans, and annuity products. As of September 30, 2005, it operated 17 offices. The company was founded in 1955 and is based in Baltimore, Maryland. BCSB Bankcorp, Inc. is 63.5% owned by Baltimore County Savings Bank, M.H.C.
