The bank also engages in mortgage banking operations primarily through the origination and sale of one- to four-family residential loans on both a servicing released and servicing retained basis. It primarily invests in the U.S. government agency obligations, mortgage-backed securities, municipal bonds, corporate debt obligations, and stock of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. As of September 30, 2005, the bank operated 55 branch offices and 12 loan production offices in 24 counties in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Banner Corporation was founded in 1890 and is based in Walla Walla, Washington.
