This segment also engages telecommunications and unregulated energy-related projects. The Generation and Marketing segment owns, operates, and controls electric generation facilities, as well as purchases and sells energy and energy-related commodities. As of December 31, 2004, this segment had 10,851 megawatts of generation capacity. Allegheny Energy offers its services to customers in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Ohio. The company was incorporated in 1925 and is headquartered in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
