Its product lines include memory testers; system-on-a-chip testers; application-specific semiconductor testers; and measuring instrument products, such as wireless communications and fiber optic equipment, and digital consumer products. The Mechatronics System segment offers peripheral devices to the semiconductor and component test systems. It includes test handlers, which handle semiconductor devices and automate the tests; device interfaces; and electron beam lithography systems. The SSO segment consists of various customer solutions, support services, and equipment lease business. The company's customers include semiconductor device manufacturers, foundries, and test houses, as well as manufacturers and service providers in the communications and electronics industries. It primarily sells its products directly in Japan and other Asian countries, North America, and Europe. The company was established in 1954 as Takeda Riken Industry Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Advantest Corporation in 1985. Advantest is based in Tokyo, Japan.
