Weekend Update - Understanding the Portfolio Table
Good Morning. I realize now that there have not been that many requests for specific stock updates, because most of the portfolio stocks have not really moved in the last week. Some stocks have made new swing highs, yet they are essentially at the same price from their swing trade entry trigger points.
Every weekend we get a lot of new subscribers. Now, I am fully aware that newsubcribers are eager to learn everything right away before the open on Monday. However, I am here to tell you that it takes time to learn how everything works at Trending123.com. At the end of this update, I would like you to click on "new subscribers get started here." There is a lot of important information there that you should read. On that page there is another icon that you should click on called "access to audio and video tutorials." This will teach you about Trending123.com, our methodology, and how to navigate around the website.
Another feature that Trending123.com offers, is the stock pattern scan. When you sign up for e-mail alerts, you will automatically get alerts from the stock pattern scan. These are not buy and sell alerts, they are just automated alerts to give you other stocks to look at for idea flow. These alerts are not to be mistaken for the e-mail alerts that are issued by me. Alerts sent to you from me, can always be double checked by going to the alert log link which will take you to the alert log page.
On the members homepage, when you scroll down the page, you will find the portfolio table. The portfolio table contains all the stocks in our current portfolio. You see that there is a risk rating assigned to each stock. Higher Risk means that the stock is either volatile, or the that the difference between entry and target has increased, and downside potential may increase. HANS is a good example of a higher risk trade. HANS has the potential to go up 7 points from entry as well as go down 7 points. It is a high risk trade because it can move 7 points in either in direction very quickly. Now let us look at a low risk trade. ZOLL is a low risk trade. When the alert trigger to buy Zoll was issued at $35.73, the potential downside was a drop of 4 points from entry, yet the upside potential was 45 points from entry. That means you are only risking 4 points in order to gain 45. That is how we define risk / reward at Trending123.com.
Furthermore, the "alert at" means buy the stock. "Action" means that the trade is open. Yellow means the stock has triggered entry. Blue means I am waiting for the stock to trigger a buy signal, it is on the "watch list." "Green" means the stock has been closed for a profit. "Red" means the stock has closed for a loss. "Gray" means that the trade is still open. The colors are constantly changing.
The portfolio also has a column that is assigned "Time frame". There are three possible types of time frames assigned to a trade: investor trade, swing trade and short term trade. What does this mean? An investor trade last's 6 to 12 months. A swing trade lasts 30 to 90 trading days. A short term trade typically lasts from two to 4 weeks of trading days.
The rest of the columns are self explanatory.
